Amazon buying rocket launches from SpaceX?

News of the Day

Amazon has purchased three rocket launches for its Kuiper internet satellite project from SpaceX. Amazon's urgent need to launch 1,618 satellites in the next 2½ years led to this decision, adding to its previous orders of 94 launches from four different companies. Development delays in other rockets have left Amazon short on time, prompting this strategic move to SpaceX, despite its Starlink service being a competitor to Kuiper.

Amazon's Kuiper internet satellite project aims to build a network of satellites to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband internet service globally, particularly in underserved and remote areas. The project is a part of Amazon's commitment to expanding internet access and connectivity, contributing to the growing field of satellite-based internet services.

Insight of the Day

A lack of credit is the biggest burden for US consumers and businesses.

60% of US consumers and 57% of US businesses say that a lack of credit is currently their biggest burden. The reason for the lack of credit is easy to spot: credit card debt is at an all-time high, and interest rates have risen significantly. The American economy is all tapped out, and the cost of loaning money is just too high.

Now the question for entrepreneurs, what is the opportunity? It has been more than a decade since credit has been the top issue for consumers and businesses. This means few tech companies have bothered to innovate in this space.

One idea? Allowing people to leverage digital assets. Most banks won’t let you loan against your newsletter, domain, crypto/NFTs, social media accounts, etc. These all have financial value. Is there a business to be made collateralizing them?
