đź“ť Amazon launches Haul
News of the Day
Amazon has unveiled Amazon Haul, a mobile-only storefront with budget goods shipped mostly from China, aiming to compete with low-cost giants Temu and Shein. Haul echoes these platforms’ layout and approach, including slower shipping times of one to two weeks. Despite environmental and consumer protection concerns tied to mass-produced imports, Amazon is betting on consumer trust in its brand, offering pre-screened sellers and a 15-day return window for items over $3. Yet the timing is risky: president-elect Donald Trump is proposing a 60% tariff on Chinese goods, while the Biden administration seeks to close loopholes that help companies like Shein keep prices low. If new import policies take effect, Amazon Haul’s future—and the entire low-cost e-commerce landscape—may face major challenges.
