📝 Anthropic raises $13B

News of the Day

Anthropic has raised a staggering $13B in Series F funding at a $183B valuation, co-led by Iconiq, Fidelity, and Lightspeed, with backers including BlackRock and the Qatar Investment Authority. The AI firm, which just eight months ago raised $3.5 billion at a $61.5 billion valuation, says the new capital will fuel enterprise adoption, global expansion, and continued work on AI safety. The company’s growth story has been just as eye-popping as its raise: annual recurring revenue has surged from $1 billion to $5 billion in 2025, enterprise customers now top 300,000, and “Claude Code,” its developer-focused tool, already generates $500 million in run-rate revenue after 10x growth in just three months. Still, CEO Dario Amodei has acknowledged the uneasy compromises that come with raises of this size, admitting in a leaked memo that taking money from sovereign wealth funds tied to authoritarian governments is “not thrilling” but, in his words, hard to avoid when competing in a capital-hungry AI arms race.
