Apple has cut prices of its Pro iPhone models in India by 3% to 4% following the government's reduction of import duties on smartphones from 20% to 15%. The price cuts range from ₹300 ($3.6) for made-in-India iPhone 13, 14, and 15 models, up to ₹6,000 ($72) for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This marks the first price reduction on current-generation Pro models in India, as Apple grapples with slowing demand in China. Despite these cuts, iPhones remain expensive in India, with the iPhone 15 Pro starting at $1,550 compared to $999 in the U.S. India is a growing market for Apple, with 2023 revenues up 42% to $8.7 billion and shipments up 39% to 9.2 million units, making it Apple's fifth-largest market globally. Apple is also expanding its manufacturing in India, planning to assemble the next generation Pro models there, similar to Google's plans for its Pixel line in 2024.
