Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next week is set to be a landmark event, focusing heavily on software, particularly iOS 18, rather than hardware. A significant highlight will be the integration of AI technology through a partnership with OpenAI, and Apple’s own Ajax LLM. Here are the key expected features and updates:

1. Siri's Revamp: Siri will receive AI enhancements allowing it to control features within apps, handle multi-step tasks, and provide more natural-sounding voices. Siri will also summarize notifications and perform more complex functions without requiring setup from developers or users.

2. Photos App: The Photos app will feature AI-powered tools for retouching images, including a “Clean Up” function to remove unwanted objects, challenging similar features in Google Photos.

3. Safari Enhancements: AI-driven recaps of web pages and news articles through a new Intelligent Search feature.

4. Notes Improvements: AI recaps, audio transcription, math equation solving, and auto-completion of mathematical equations will be introduced.

5. Voice Memos: Real-time transcription capabilities.

6. iMessages Overhaul: AI-generated emojis, message recaps, suggested replies, and deeper Siri integration. RCS support will improve text interactions with Android users.

7. Calendar App: Integration with the LLM for checking events while composing messages.

8. Mail Updates: AI-generated email replies.

9. Settings and Control Center: A revamped Settings interface for better organization and an updated Control Center with new features, including a new Music widget and improved HomeKit integration.

10. Notifications and Spotlight: AI-generated recaps of missed notifications and faster, more reliable Spotlight search.

11. Home Screen Customization: Users will be able to place app icons freely and change their colors.

12. Maps: Support for custom route creation.

13. Apple Music: AI-powered auto-generated playlists to compete with Spotify.

Additionally, updates are expected for Freeform, Xcode, and Apple’s productivity apps like Keynote and Pages, incorporating generative AI features. These advancements underscore Apple’s commitment to AI integration while maintaining user data privacy.
