📝 Apple Intelligence Problem

News of the Day

Last week, Apple joined Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and others in the competition to find an icon that suggests AI to users, introducing a circular shape with seven loops for its "Apple Intelligence." The challenge lies in representing AI visually, as it does everything but looks like nothing. The goal is to create a non-threatening, abstract, and simple avatar for AI, avoiding earlier icons like robots or magic wands that imply rigidity or mystery. Companies have gravitated towards soft, colorful shapes, such as OpenAI’s black dot and Microsoft’s Copilot logo. Despite the effort, no one has yet nailed a design that clearly communicates "AI" to users, instead opting for symbols that distinguish AI interfaces from email, search engines, or note apps. The current designs aim to be friendly and approachable, reflecting the undefined potential of AI while avoiding a definitive representation.
