Autonomous vehicle software firm Applied Intuition has raised a massive $600 million Series F round, doubling its valuation to $15 billion just a year after its last raise. Backed by heavyweights like BlackRock, Kleiner Perkins, and sovereign wealth funds from Qatar and Abu Dhabi, the company continues to expand its footprint across both commercial and defense sectors. Known for simulation tools and data platforms used by automakers and AV firms like Gatik and Kodiak, Applied is also fast becoming a go-to for military applications—recently outfitting a U.S. Army infantry vehicle with autonomy in just 10 days. As the AV sector pivots toward real-world deployment and national security, Applied is positioning itself as the essential software layer powering it all.
Some GPs are pouring $$$ into AI deals w/o valuation discipline—not always because of conviction, but also due to the likelihood of getting markups come quicker and higher than in non-AI companies. There are great AI companies, but I expect it to be really clear soon which ones
