📝 AWS opening Data Transfer Terminals
News of the Day
Amazon introduced AWS Data Transfer Terminal, a service allowing customers to physically upload data to AWS at designated locations in New York City and Los Angeles, with more sites planned. Through the AWS management console, users can reserve a time slot, bring their storage devices to a terminal, and use high-speed (up to 400Gbps) secure connections to transfer data to the cloud. The facilities are discreet, with no visible AWS branding for security purposes. While promising fast uploads, the service comes at a premium: $300 per port hour for U.S.-to-U.S. transfers and $500 for U.S.-to-EU transfers, charged even for unused time in a reserved slot.

In most creative fields reference points are critical sources of caution and inspiration. Often, the more iykyk the better.
Tech rarely seems to do the same. Tactical lessons, certainly, but obscure references or personal heroes beyond the obvious are rare.
