Former a16z investor Balaji Srinivasan is taking his vision of "network states" to the next level by booking an island in Singapore to launch his "Network School." This 90-day program, starting in late September, will focus on crypto, longevity, and the creation of what Srinivasan describes as a "technocapitalist college town." His initiative has captured the imagination of Silicon Valley's libertarian faction, drawing praise from figures like Marc Andreessen and Vitalik Buterin. The concept of network states, which Srinivasan defines as internet communities securing physical locations and diplomatic recognition, has inspired similar efforts, such as Buterin's Zuzalu in Montenegro. Srinivasan's school targets those who reject traditional institutions and are eager to explore alternatives like Bitcoin and AI-driven governance. As applications roll in, the broader goal remains to secure some form of recognition from local governments, a step toward making these digital utopias a reality.
