Basecamp Research, a London-based startup, has raised $60 million to advance an AI model focused on biology and biodiversity. Co-founders Glen Gowers and Oliver Vince aim to fill data gaps in biological models and enable insights beyond human capabilities. Basecamp's AI, BaseFold, is said to outperform DeepMind's AlphaFold 2 in predicting complex protein structures. With over 100 global partnerships, including projects with Procter & Gamble and Colorifix, Basecamp is expanding its biological datasets and AI-driven discovery efforts, particularly in drug development.
