News of the Day
Berlin-based Cherry Ventures has closed a $500 million fund, aiming to reverse the negative sentiment around Europe’s startup ecosystem and build the continent’s first trillion-dollar company. However, the funding landscape remains challenging—European AI startups raised just $8 billion compared to $97 billion in the U.S., and U.K. startup funding dropped 50% last quarter. While Cherry’s portfolio includes notable names like Flink and Forto, it wasn’t featured in last year’s HEC-Dow Jones VC rankings. Meanwhile, Balderton Capital raised $1.3 billion, echoing concerns that Europe is missing out on AI’s explosive growth.
Venture isn’t about mitigating failure. It’s about spotting the winners despite it.

Our job? Keep the bases loaded and encourage crazy founders to swing for the fences.
Nothing else matters.
