📝 Chowdeck Raises $9M
News of the Day
Chowdeck, a Lagos-based food delivery startup known for its profitability in one of the world’s toughest, lowest-margin markets, has raised $9 million in Series A funding led by Novastar Ventures, with backing from Y Combinator and other investors, to fuel a rapid expansion across Nigeria and Ghana. Founded in 2021, the company has built a hyperlocal delivery network of over 20,000 riders serving 1.5 million customers, often delivering local meals, a logistically more complex challenge, within 30 minutes, and in dense areas, by bicycle. Already operating in 11 cities and recently entering Ghana, Chowdeck plans to open 40 dark stores this year and 500 by 2026, complementing restaurant and grocery delivery with vertical SaaS tools from its recent acquisition of point-of-sale provider Mira, as it races to become Africa’s leading logistics-driven super app.
It's easy to get caught up in the highs and lows of entrepreneurship.
But don't forget to stay grounded and seek help from those who have your best interests at heart.
