📝 Clipbook raises $3M
News of the Day
Clipbook, an AI-native media-monitoring platform founded in 2023 by former BCG PR lead Adam Joseph, has raised a $3 million seed round co-led by Mark Cuban, Commonweal Ventures, and Carpenter Capital, thanks to a cold email Joseph fired off after bootstrapping the company to $1 million ARR. Cuban, who says he has invested “tens of millions” from cold pitches, put Joseph through a classic Shark Tank-style interrogation before asking him to prove Clipbook’s value by generating a report on CostPlus Drugs; the software impressed by surfacing nuanced, context-aware media references—including podcast mentions that competitors like Sprinklr, Hootsuite, and Sprout Social often miss. Built from the ground up as AI-native rather than an AI bolt-on, Clipbook distinguishes between language nuances (like “cost” and “drugs” versus CostPlus Drugs) and can analyze audio and video as easily as text, which Joseph argues solves the biggest pain points of his former PR work. With 200 customers already onboard and growth continuing past its first million in ARR, the startup plans to use its new seed capital to scale a product that helps companies understand what the world is saying about them and their competitors across every medium.
