📝 Corning's EU Investigation
News of the Day
The European Union has launched an investigation into Corning Inc., the U.S. company known for its durable Gorilla Glass used in smartphones like the iPhone, over alleged anti-competitive practices. The EU Commission suspects Corning of signing exclusive agreements with phone manufacturers and glass processors that may have squeezed out competitors, limiting consumer choice and potentially raising prices. If found in breach of competition rules, Corning could face penalties up to 10% of its global revenue. While Corning stated its commitment to regulatory compliance, the EU’s in-depth probe will determine if any violations occurred, though a timeline for the conclusion remains open-ended.
