San Francisco-based startup Decart has raised $32 million in a Series A round led by Benchmark, propelling its valuation to over $500 million just two months after emerging from stealth with $21 million in seed funding. Co-founded by 26-year-old Dean Leitersdorf, Decart is tackling AI from three angles: infrastructure optimization, AI models, and data-driven applications. Its first product, GPU optimization software, slashes AI workload costs by up to 99% and has already generated millions in revenue, ensuring profitability since launch. The company’s second venture, Oasis—a playable "open-world" AI model—has attracted millions of users. While Decart eyes big players like OpenAI, its focus on cost reduction and accessible AI experiences underscores its ambition to build a trillion-dollar "kilocorn." However, questions about ethical safeguards and misuse remain unanswered as the startup prioritizes rapid growth and user engagement.
