News of the Day

Romanian-founded Digitail has raised $23 million USD in a Series B round led by Five Elms Capital, with participation from Atomico, Partech, Byfounders, and Gradient Ventures, to accelerate its expansion across North America. Founded in 2017, the pet care software startup is modernizing veterinary clinics still running on 1990s-era systems by offering a digital platform that integrates appointment scheduling, inventory management, and a pet parent app. Now employing nearly 70 people, a third of whom work in Toronto, Digitail says its Canadian client base has more than doubled over the past year, aided by partnerships like one with CDMV to reach clinics across Québec. The platform also incorporates AI tools that summarize patient profiles, transcribe visits, and integrate medical records, helping vets serve more patients efficiently while maintaining compliance with GDPR standards. CEO Sebastian Gabor says the company’s goal is to give clinics better insights from their data and improve productivity — turning half of all product demos into signed customers as it rides a wave of booming pet care spending projected to hit $261 billion USD by 2030.
