PayPal-owned Honey is facing backlash for allegedly manipulating affiliate links to earn commissions, but former Vercel employee Steven Tey aims to fix this with Dub.co, an open-source URL shortener and link-tracking service. Dub.co allows creators to embed coupon codes directly into links, ensuring transparent attribution and preventing "last-link" hijacking. Initially built at Vercel to track developer advocacy impact, Dub.co evolved into a SaaS tool for businesses like Twilio and YouTube channels like Huberman Lab. Its new Conversions feature tracks real-time clicks, signups, and sales, integrating with Shopify and Stripe.
