News of the Day

Energy startup Einklang has secured $2.5 million in seed funding to shield Germany's mid-sized "Mittelstand" from the volatile electricity prices that have historically penalized smaller firms. Led by Vireo Ventures, the round enables the company to scale its "Energy-as-a-Service" model, which integrates intelligent battery storage with dynamic, renewable-focused tariffs to reportedly slash SME power costs by up to 40%. Unlike energy-intensive heavy industries that benefit from specific regulatory relief, mid-sized manufacturers often struggle with peak consumption charges and grid fees—problems Einklang founders Lucas Jonas and Jonathan Schulte aim to solve by automating power usage to coincide with peak wind and solar production. By eliminating the need for upfront capital investment, the startup targets rapid expansion to 100 customer sites by the end of 2026, positioning itself as a key orchestrator in Germany's transition toward a decentralized and flexible power grid.
