Eyebot, a Boston-based startup that’s reimagining how people get glasses prescriptions, has raised $20 million in Series A funding to expand its network of 90-second vision test kiosks. Founded in 2021, the company places its kiosks in malls, pharmacies, grocery stores, schools, and airports, offering free tests that are reviewed and verified by licensed doctors before issuing prescriptions. Eyebot claims to have already conducted more than 45,000 tests since its seed round last year and is on track to deliver over half a million annually, with uptake robust among parents and casual shoppers. While traditional eye care providers were initially skeptical, the company argues its blend of speed, convenience, and medical oversight has won over both consumers and doctors. Backed by General Catalyst and other major investors, Eyebot now plans to scale its nationwide deployments and expand its team to meet the rising demand.
