News of the Day

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has introduced a "click-to-cancel" rule, requiring companies offering subscription-based services to make cancellation as easy as signing up. This applies to streaming, memberships, and auto-renewing plans like Amazon Prime. Businesses must provide clear cancellation options and can’t use different methods for sign-ups and cancellations. Additionally, they must inform customers before billing them. This rule aims to prevent consumer complaints about difficult cancellation processes and will take effect 180 days after publication in the federal register.
