📝 Gaiia raises $40M
News of the Day
Gaiia, a Québec City-based telecom software startup, has secured a $40-million USD Series B round to accelerate the development of its "AI-native" operations platform. The all-equity round was led by U.S. private equity firm JMI Equity, with participation from Inovia Capital, bringing Gaiia's total funding to nearly $90 million CAD. Originally a spinout of the internet service provider Oxio—which sold its telecom operations to Cogeco in 2023—Gaiia aims to become the "Shopify for challenger telecoms" by offering a unified suite for workflow automation, CRM, and field service management. The company has reported tripling its revenue annually for the past three years and plans to use the new capital to significantly expand its 90-person team and invest heavily in R&D. By offering faster onboarding and waiving migration fees, Gaiia is positioning itself as a modern alternative to legacy telecom software, focusing on providing a smoother experience for both service providers and their end customers. This investment highlights a growing trend in 2026 of specialized, AI-driven SaaS platforms disrupting traditionally clunky, infrastructure-heavy industries.
