General Motors' autonomous vehicle division, Cruise, has dismissed nine key leaders following safety concerns and investigations related to an October accident in San Francisco. The departures, confirmed by GM and Cruise spokespeople, include personnel from legal, government affairs, commercial operations, and safety and systems teams. This move is part of an effort to rebuild trust and uphold safety and integrity standards. The shakeup follows Cruise's decision to pause U.S. roadway operations and regulatory scrutiny over the incident. GM CEO Mary Barra emphasized the importance of "righting the ship" at Cruise, with two external safety reviews expected to conclude in early 2024. Additionally, Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt and co-founder Dan Kan have resigned from the company. GM remains committed to supporting Cruise's focus on accountability, trust, and transparency.
