Google Photos is set to enhance user experience by making several advanced AI editing features, previously exclusive to Pixel devices and Google One subscribers, accessible to everyone for free. This update includes the Magic Eraser for removing unwanted objects, Photo Unblur for sharpening images, Portrait Light for adjusting lighting post-capture, among other tools. Although the rollout begins on May 15 and will gradually reach all users, there are specific hardware requirements for ChromeOS and mobile devices. The standout Magic Editor, capable of complex edits like changing skies or repositioning subjects using generative AI, will be available to all Pixel users, while iOS and Android users can enjoy up to 10 Magic Editor saves monthly, with additional access through a Premium Google One plan. Other tools will not require a subscription, broadening access to sophisticated photo editing capabilities previously needing manual effort or professional software.
