Grammarly is acquiring a productivity startup, Coda, with Coda CEO Shishir Mehrotra taking over as Grammarly's new CEO, while current CEO Rahul Roy-Chowdhury is taking on an advisory role. The deal, whose financial terms remain undisclosed, aims to transform Grammarly’s AI assistant into an "AI productivity platform" by integrating Coda’s tools, offering features like generative AI chat and enhanced productivity capabilities. Coda Docs will also incorporate Grammarly's AI assistant, with plans to merge both platforms’ strengths for smarter, AI-driven productivity. Founded in 2009, Grammarly serves 40 million users and is valued at $13 billion, while Coda’s valuation last reached $1.4 billion.
