News of the Day

Heidi Health, an AI health tech startup founded by trauma surgeon Dr. Tom Kelly and entrepreneur Waleed Mussa, has raised $65 million in a Series B round led by Steve Cohen’s Point72, bringing its total funding to $96.6 million. The company, launched in 2021, develops AI tools that automate administrative tasks for clinicians, including transcribing notes, drafting patient summaries, and even making calls on behalf of doctors—to help healthcare providers focus more on patient care and less on paperwork. Dr. Kelly says Heidi’s tools have already saved over 18 million hours across 70 million patient visits in 116 countries, with adoption metrics that impressed investors. The latest round also brings on new leadership, including Microsoft’s former Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simon Kos and Plaid’s head of revenue, Paul Williamson. With over 2 million clinicians using its tools weekly, Heidi plans to use the fresh capital to expand product development and global reach. Dr. Kelly envisions a future where AI doubles the world’s healthcare capacity—empowering providers everywhere from major hospitals to war zones and refugee camps to deliver better care with less burden.
