📝 Hoofprint raises $15M

Hoofprint Biome secured a $15 million Series A round from investors like SOSV, Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, and Breakthrough Energy. For years, efforts to reduce methane from cow burps focused on climate impact — but Hoofprint Biome is flipping the script by treating it as an animal health issue, not just an environmental one. Led by PhD animal scientist Kathryn Polkoff, the startup uses enzymes to modify a cow’s microbiome, cutting methane emissions while increasing nutrient absorption and feed efficiency. By approaching the problem through the lens of a farmer, Hoofprint may succeed where others have stalled.
