📝 iOS18 Potential

News of the Day

Apple’s practice of integrating popular third-party app features into its own iOS and Mac systems, known as "sherlocking," could impact apps generating an estimated $393 million in revenue with 58 million downloads in the past year, according to Appfigures. At Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the company often showcases new features that replicate those of existing third-party apps, such as password managers, grammar helpers, and trail apps. This year, Apple has targeted apps like AllTrails, Grammarly, and various math and password tools. These app categories have seen substantial revenue and download figures, with trail apps leading at $307 million annually. Despite potential disruptions, third-party apps might retain dedicated users if they continue innovating and leveraging new Apple features, such as the improved Siri. However, the casual user market may gravitate towards Apple’s built-in solutions, impacting the growth of these third-party apps.
