Juicebox has raised $36 million, including a $30 million Series A led by Sequoia, to scale its AI-powered recruiting engine that’s already generating over $10 million in ARR. Founded by David Paffenholz and Ishan Gupta when they were just 22 and 19, the startup’s PeopleGPT platform uses natural language search across résumés, personal sites, and public data to surface top candidates that keyword filters miss. In less than two years, Juicebox has gone from Y Combinator to more than 2,500 customers—including Cognition, Ramp, and Perplexity—helping startups hire faster without recruiters and even winning over Sequoia’s own internal recruiting team. What sets Juicebox apart is its humanlike inference engine, which can not only identify overlooked candidates but also email them and schedule calls automatically, freeing up talent teams to focus on relationship-building. With hiring speed critical in the AI boom, Sequoia’s David Cahn sees Juicebox as having the potential to become a default tool for every startup, much like Stripe did for payments.
