๐ Juno Industries raises $8.75M
News of the Day
Juno Industries, a Vancouver-based defence technology startup co-founded by former Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan, has secured $8.75 million in financing as it prepares for a public listing on the TSX Venture Exchange via a reverse takeover. The company raised the capital through the sale of 15 million subscription receipts to a mix of Canadian institutional, venture capital, and individual investors, with the funds currently held in escrow pending a merger with Trail Blazer Capital Corp. Once the transaction is finalized, Juno intends to use the proceeds to expand its 20-person team and accelerate the development of autonomous robotic systems, AI-native command-and-control software, and persistent sensor fabrics. A key focus for the startup is its "Polar Nexus" platform, an Arctic-ready autonomous system designed to provide long-range communications and sensor capabilities for threat detection in one of Canadaโs most strategic and challenging environments. This move positions Juno as a rising contender in the race to become a modern Canadian defence prime contractor, joining peers like Dominion Dynamics in a burgeoning domestic market focused on sovereign defence power and NATO security requirements. The listing underscores a significant pivot for Sajjan, who transitioned from public office earlier this year to lead Juno alongside CEO Hunter Scharfe during what they describe as a "turning point" for national defence transformation.
