📝 Lore raises $1.1M
News of the Day
Zehra Naqvi, a 26-year-old former fan girl turned investor, is launching Lore, a search platform for researching and exploring internet obsessions, with $1.1 million in pre-seed funding led by Village Global and Precursor Ventures. Drawing on her own years of deep fandom, which have led her down various pop culture rabbit holes, Naqvi aims for Lore to serve as a “Library of Alexandria for the fandom age,” enabling users to map connections between their interests, track fan theories, and receive personalized insights about their obsessions. The platform builds a customized graph of fandoms, surfaces updates, and provides monthly engagement reports. Lore’s early testing resulted in over 1,000 logins, 24,000 searches, and approximately 200 hours of collective in-depth exploration, demonstrating strong user engagement. Naqvi, who has made her first two hires—a marketing executive and an engineer—plans to use the funding to grow the user base and refine the product ahead of a full launch next year. Designed as a “lurker-first” space, Lore emphasizes playful, joy-driven exploration rather than social networking, positioning itself as a unique home for fan communities in an age of fragmented social media.
