News of the Day

Defence tech startup Mach Industries, founded by 21-year-old MIT dropout Ethan Thornton, is set to raise $100 million in a round co-led by Khosla Ventures and existing backer Bedrock Capital, valuing the company at around $470 million. Known for its ambitious development of vertical-liftoff vehicles and weapons capable of operating from the edge of space, Mach has quickly become one of the most-watched names in the sector, buoyed by early backing from Sequoia and recent traction with the U.S. Army. The startup’s funding total will rise to roughly $185 million, with the latest capital likely fueling its new 115,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and expanding production of its precision cruise missile, “Strategic Strike.”
