McDonald's new spinoff competing with Starbucks

McDonald's is launching CosMc’s, with its first outlet opening this week in Bolingbrook, Illinois." This spinoff brand, inspired by the McDonaldland mascot CosMc, plans to open 10 locations by the end of 2024, including nine in Texas, as part of a trial. The fast-food giant aims to analyze performance over a year before deciding on further expansion. CosMc’s is primarily designed to capture the emerging market segment with demand for customized coffee-based drinks in the afternoon. Think of it as being primarily positioned to take market share from Starbucks. CosMc’s will have familiar food items like Egg McMuffins and McFlurries as well as new items like pretzel bites and Frappes.
