Montréal-based Mechasys has raised a $23 million Series A to scale production of its patented XR Projector. This laser-based tool projects construction layouts with millimetre accuracy and integrates with software for blueprint management. Founded in 2018 after pivoting from 3D-printed wall panels, the startup now counts customers across 200 global construction sites. It claims its technology can cut layout time in half while reducing costly on-site mistakes. Despite facing higher aluminum costs due to Canada–US tariffs, Mechasys continues to manufacture in Montréal, absorbing the impact to maintain stable prices. With revenue projected to reach $2.5 million in 2025 and $13 million by 2026, the company plans to triple its 25-person team, expand sales internationally in markets like Australia and the Middle East, and further develop its AI-enabled hardware and software suite.
