Elon Musk announced plans to move SpaceX’s headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, and X’s headquarters from San Francisco to Austin, citing California's increasing operational challenges and recent legislation on student privacy as key reasons. This move follows Tesla's 2021 relocation to Austin and continues Musk's trend of tying his ventures to Texas. SpaceX's massive Hawthorne site, a historic aerospace hub, may retain significant operations despite the headquarters move. Texas Governor Greg Abbott welcomed Musk's decision, reinforcing Texas’s growing prominence in space exploration and business.
