📝 Odyssey Raises $18M
News of the Day
Odyssey, a startup co-founded by former Cruise VP Oliver Cameron, is making headlines with its novel AI approach to creating detailed cinematic worlds. By strapping a 25-pound camera setup — equipped with six cameras, lidar sensors, and an inertial measurement unit — onto hikers, Odyssey collects real-world data to fuel generative AI models. These models reconstruct environments with cinematic quality, layering elements like object geometry, lighting, and motion to create virtual scenes that mimic reality. Backed by $18 million in new Series A funding, Odyssey plans to expand its data-gathering footprint beyond California, with aspirations of revolutionizing content creation across film and gaming.
