News of the Day

AI startup Odyssey has unveiled Explorer, a tool that generates photorealistic 3D worlds from text or images using AI trained on real-world landscapes captured by the company's 360-degree camera system. The scenes, compatible with tools like Unreal Engine and Blender, leverage gaussian splats for detailed rendering. While Explorer’s early version has limitations, such as 10-minute rendering times and low resolution, Odyssey has partnered with production houses and creatives, aiming to enhance, not replace, artistic workflows. With Pixar co-founder Ed Catmull joining its board, Odyssey envisions a future of AI-driven, interactive worlds that inspire new storytelling possibilities.
