📝 OpenAI Hallucination Issues Persist

OpenAI is facing a new privacy complaint in the EU, filed by the privacy rights nonprofit noyb, concerning its ChatGPT AI chatbot. The complaint, lodged with the Austrian data protection authority, highlights the chatbot's inability to correct false personal information, in this case, an incorrect birth date for a public figure. This inability to correct data potentially breaches the EU's GDPR, which mandates accurate data processing and provides individuals the right to have erroneous data rectified. The complaint emphasizes OpenAI's technical challenges in adjusting its AI's outputs and its current practice of suggesting data deletion as an alternative to correction, which noyb argues doesn't align with GDPR's requirements. This issue is part of broader concerns regarding the transparency and accuracy of data processed by AI, with similar investigations already underway in Italy and Poland.
