OpenAI has unveiled Operator, a groundbreaking AI agent that can automate tasks like booking travel and online shopping by independently navigating websites. Available to U.S. users on the $200 ChatGPT Pro plan, Operator employs a Computer-Using Agent (CUA) model that interacts with web interfaces like a human. While capable of navigating menus and filling forms, Operator requires user supervision for sensitive tasks like banking or credit card inputs. Although limited by rate caps and complexity issues, Operator represents OpenAIās boldest step yet into the agentic AI future, rivaling developments from Google and Anthropic.
