OpenArt, an AI video creation startup founded by ex-Google employees, has raised $5 million from Basis Set Ventures and DCM Ventures and is already cash-flow positive with projected annual revenue topping $20 million. Known for fueling the viral “brain rot” video trend, the platform just debuted its “One-Click Story” tool in open beta, enabling users to turn a single prompt, script, or song into a one-minute, character-consistent video using aggregated models like DALLE-3, GPT, and Stable Diffusion. While aiming to lower the barrier for AI creators, OpenArt is also navigating IP risks from user-generated content and plans to expand into features like multi-character conversations and a mobile app as it continues to ride the AI-driven creator economy wave.
What I’m worried about:
AI is a tool designed only for the rich.
It solves first-world problems only.
It will get less and less accessible and practice for the lower 90% of people socioeconomically as time goes on.
