Panjaya, an Israeli startup led by CEO Guy Piekarz and co-founders Hilik Shani and Ariel Shalom, has unveiled BodyTalk, a generative AI dubbing tool capable of translating videos into 29 languages with a twist: the AI re-creates the original speaker’s voice and even adapts lip movements to match the new language seamlessly. After years in stealth mode, Panjaya raised $9.5 million from investors, including Viola Ventures and Storm Ventures, to fuel its mission of transforming video translation. Targeting B2B clients like JFrog and TED, Panjaya emphasizes its “deep real” approach, maintaining ethical safeguards and avoiding the term “deepfake” to distance itself from potential misuse. With a goal of supporting industries like media, education, and healthcare, Panjaya’s tech taps into the demand for natural-language content, where it’s shown to boost engagement—TED Talks translated by Panjaya have seen a 115% increase in views and doubled completion rates.
