AI-powered search engine Perplexity has acquired Read.cv, a professional social media platform that rivaled LinkedIn, signaling its ongoing expansion into corporate-focused services. Founded in 2021 by former Facebook designer Andy Chung, Read.cv offered tools for resumes, professional networking, and job listings, with recent innovations like personalized ".cv" websites. Following the acquisition, Read.cv will shut down, allowing users to export their data until May 16. Perplexity’s CEO highlighted the value of Read.cv's expertise in social and consumer experiences. Backed by $500 million in funding and valued at $9 billion, Perplexity has been bolstering its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including Carbon and Spellwise, as it aims to enhance enterprise functionality.
