📝 Qubic raises $2.5M
News of the Day
Sherbrooke, Quebec-based quantum hardware startup Qubic has raised $2.5 million in seed funding led by Two Small Fish Ventures, with participation from UC Investments, Quantacet, and UCeed, to commercialize its proprietary cryogenic signal amplifiers. Spun out from the Institut quantique at the Université de Sherbrooke and the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing, the company manufactures specialized low-noise amplifiers engineered to read superconducting qubits without introducing the disruptive thermal energy common in traditional semiconductor amplifiers. The fresh capital, which brings Qubic's total funding to nearly $7.3 million USD ($10 million CAD), will be used to scale manufacturing capacity, expand the engineering team to 30 employees by late 2027, and construct a radio-frequency quantum sensing platform. This industrial scaling comes as Qubic builds momentum within the defense and quantum computing sectors, having recently secured its first commercial customer contract with U.S.-based Quantum Machines to benchmark the hardware against competing market solutions.
