News of the Day
When Vikram Bhaskaran’s father showed early signs of ALS, he was struck by how hard it was to find clear, reliable medical information online. That frustration drove Bhaskaran, neurosurgeon Rohan Ramakrishna, and Pinterest engineer Arun Ranganathan to create Roon, a platform providing concise, video-based medical advice from top doctors and patients. Roon is tackling the gaps left by “Dr. Google” and sites like WebMD with over 16,000 doctor-led videos on conditions like ALS, dementia, and PCOS. While still pre-revenue, the startup raised $15M at a $68M valuation. Investors believe Roon’s trustworthy content will attract users first and monetize later, possibly through ads, subscriptions, or hospital partnerships.
