The SEC charged four companies—Check Point, Mimecast, Unisys, and Avaya—for misleading disclosures related to the 2019 SolarWinds data breach. These companies provided false or incomplete information about the extent of the cyberattacks, downplaying their severity. Penalties range from $990,000 to $4 million. The SEC emphasized the importance of accurate cybersecurity disclosures to protect investors. All four firms cooperated with the SEC investigation and agreed to settle without admitting or denying the charges, committing to improved practices going forward.
