News of the Day

Seprify has secured $15 million in Series A funding to transition its nature-inspired cellulose platform from pilot validation to full-scale industrial supply. Based in Fribourg and spun out from the University of Cambridge, the company utilizes technology inspired by the ultra-white scales of the Cyphochilus beetle to create biodegradable alternatives to titanium dioxide and fossil-derived polymers. The funding round, which included strategic backing from Inter IKEA Group and Una Terra, will support the commercial rollout of flagship products like SilvaLuma™ (an SPF booster for cosmetics) and SilvaAlba™ (a food-grade whitening agent). With over 100 customer organizations currently evaluating its technology, Seprify is now focusing on the rigorous procurement and supplier qualification processes required to serve high-volume sectors including personal care, pet food, and industrial coatings.
