๐ Serenity Power raises $850k
News of the Day
Serenity Power has secured $850k in oversubscribed pre-seed funding to commercialize its solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology. Led by Avatar Ventures, the round includes a diverse group of investors such as The Firehood, Front Row Ventures, and Rep Matters. This equity investment, combined with $650k in previously secured non-dilutive funding from bodies like Alberta Innovates, positions the startup to transition from lab-scale innovation to real-world commercial pilots this year. Unlike proton-exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells that typically require high-purity hydrogen, Serenityโs SOFCs offer significant fuel diversity. They are designed to run on natural gas, hydrogen, methane, or blended fuels, making them a versatile replacement for traditional diesel generators in remote or industrial settings. This flexibility allows operators to reduce emissions immediately using existing infrastructure (like natural gas lines) while providing a "future-proof" bridge to a pure hydrogen economy as that supply chain matures.
