📝 SiftMed raises $3.67M
News of the Day
St. John’s-based healthtech startup SiftMed has secured $3.67 million in seed funding led by Staircase Ventures, with participation from The51, Pelorus VC, Sandpiper Ventures, and the founders of Verafin, bringing its total capital raised to nearly $8.1 million. Founded in 2020 by CEO Holly Hill and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jeremie Larouche, SiftMed develops AI-powered document review software that ingests, structures, and analyzes complex medical files for insurance carriers, independent medical examiners, and legal teams. Acting as a "decision-support" research assistant, the platform links all extracted findings back to their source documents to maintain an auditable trail, helping reviewers cut turnaround times by 50% to 70% while ensuring human experts retain full control over all final claims decisions. SiftMed plans to use the new capital to expand its product, engineering, and sales teams, deepen its auditability features, and accelerate its expansion across North American insurance markets ahead of a planned Series A in the next 12 to 18 months.
