News of the Day

Slate Auto, the Jeff Bezos-backed electric vehicle startup, announced a $650 million Series C, bringing its total capital raised to roughly $1.4 billion. Led by TWG Global (run by Mark Walter and Thomas Tull), the investment arrives as the company prepares for a 2026 production launch of its "extreme low-end" electric pickup truck. Co-founded by former Amazon Consumer CEO Jeff Wilke and recently tapping former Amazon Marketplace VP Peter Faricy as CEO, the company is leveraging a leadership team deep in "Amazon DNA" to navigate a turbulent U.S. EV market currently defined by declining Tesla sales and the loss of federal tax credits.
