📝 Spark Microsystems raises $12.3M
News of the Day
Montréal-based fabless semiconductor firm Spark Microsystems has secured $12.3 million in Series B follow-on funding to accelerate the commercialization of its proprietary low-energy ultra-wideband (LE-UWB) technology. Co-led by Idealist Capital and Real Ventures, the all-primary equity round maintains the same terms as the company’s 2023 financing, bringing its total capital raised to over $50.7 million. CEO Fares Mubarak noted that extending the Series B with existing insiders allowed the 85-person team to bypass a lengthy Series C process and focus on meeting "soaring" demand for high-speed, low-latency wireless sensors and wearables. As AI workloads increasingly strain the limits of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Spark intends to deploy this new capital to expand its engineering and sales operations, targeting growth in augmented reality, autonomous robotics, and industrial IoT sectors where energy efficiency and data throughput are critical.
