Speedata, an Israeli startup developing a specialized Analytics Processing Unit (APU), has raised $44 million to scale a chip purpose-built for data analytics — and economists and technologists alike are taking note. Unlike general-purpose CPUs or retrofitted GPUs, Speedata’s APU is engineered from the ground up to overcome computational bottlenecks in big data workloads. Economists see this as a potentially transformative shift: the ability to process complex datasets in minutes instead of hours or days could drive significant productivity gains across industries.
